Implementation

At the start of year 10, pupils will be given the option to take Hair and Beauty. This will only be offered to students who are considering the industry post-16. Over the course of the weeks lessons students will have 3 classroom lessons where they will work towards developing their coursework and knowledge for assessments. Alongside this, one lesson per week will consist of targeted practical lessons. This will include: Customer service expectations, sectioning and blow drying, straightening, curling, setting and eventually building to colouring hair.

Assessment

The course is assessed with one external examination and 3 pieces of externally set, internally marked coursework. Coursework briefs will be given at the start of the course for students to work towards as they develop their knowledge of the industry.

Impact

Pupil’s progress is evaluated using their baseline upon entry to the academy and the progress they are making.  This allows necessary intervention to be put in place in order to give pupils the best chance of obtaining their expected outcomes.
