Construction Skills 6219-90 at Access Training
This qualification is designed for learners wishing to gain some understanding and some practical experience of the vatiety of trades in the construction industry. There is no age restrictions and no pre-entry requirements, although a basic understanding of Maths and English would be an advantage.
The qualification covers a range of hand-skills and practical tasks in the following trade areas:-
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Painting & Decorating
The learner can choose which units to complete from within the paraneters of the qualification, but they must all complete the one mandatory unit on health and safety.
The qualification is assessed in several ways to provide a clear indication of learner knowledge and skills. These include:-
- Knowledge and understanding tasks
- Internally marked questions
- Practical tasks
The practical tasks will require learners to demonstrate their practical skills. Most practical tasks will be assessed by observation of the learner carrying out the task. The tasks are summative assessment and, other than to gain a pass, learners may not retake tasks to improve grades. It is therefore essential that the learner only undertake an assessment when they are judged to be fully ready.
Feedback is given to the learners showing the key information given to the learners. This will also serve as an action plan for learners who are unsuccessful in a task and need to do further work before taking the task again
